The new band that recently rocked Mehrangarh Fort during Jodhpur RIFF 2009, Dharohar features British-Asian beatboxer Jason Singh, morchang virtuoso Raies Khan Manganiyar, protest poet Jumma Khan Mewati, and the talented Sumitra Kamad (voice), Daya Ram Bhatt (voice and harmonium), Kutla Khan Manganiyar (dholak), Bhungar Khan Manganiyar (khartals) and Sardar Khan Langa (sarangi and voice).

Dharohar brings together musicians from the UK and Rajasthan of various religious and cultural backgrounds to collaborate and create new music, combining traditional and contemporary song, poetry and acoustic instrumentation. Performances show technical prowess, humour and passion, and have an ability to entertain, move and engage an audience regardless of caste, religion, venue, social or economic situation.

With support from the British Council and the Annenberg Foundation, the project aims to provide a platform for musical and technical exchange, so that participating musicians can both contribute and learn lasting professional skills.
